The Hinged Compression Boot Instructions for Use

The Hinged Compression Boot stabilizes the injured back leg of the horse.  It positions the limb in normal alignment and provides a close contact fit and compression, which may reduce pain and guard against further injury.  It is fits thoroughbred or similar size horses.

There are two 1/8 inch shims in the bottom of the brace.  It is important to make sure that the fetlock is located in the proper place in the brace.  If the fetlock is too low, the brace might rub under the fetlock.  If these two shims are not thick enough to locate the fetlock correctly, you can use any material you have at hand for an additional shim.

Instructions for use

  1. Use a wrap under the brace.
  2. Use shims, if needed to locate the fetlock correctly.
  3. Use caution, do not over tighten.
  4. Ski buckles can be adjusted by twisting the bail section.

Care and Cleaning

  1. Your brace is made from copolymer plastic. It must be used with a wrap.
  2. To clean, use mild soap and a soft cloth.
  3. Allow to air dry completely before storing.
  4. Store above freezing and below 85 degree F.  Pronged very hot temperature can cause plastic to change shape.  Temperature below freezing will not damage the plastic, but will necessitate warming before use because the plastic becomes brittle when cold.
