Straight to the Toe Brace
The Straight to the Toe Brace positions the fetlock upright and in the toe flexed. This is a great alternative to metal bracing. The brace is often used to protect the sesamoild bones. In addition to aligning the lower leg in the upright position, it also gives medial/lateral and rotational stability.
This brace is lightweight and padded for comfort but as strong as metal bracing. A wedge under the heel adds further stability.

Straight to the Toe Brace Instructions for use
The Straight to the Toe Brace is for the front leg. It protects the suspensory ligaments, positioning the fetlock upright and the toe in flexion. It provides lateral-medial stability as well as padding to protect the leg. The brace is a reusable pre-fabricated copolymer splint with removable firm closed cell foam liner. The liner fastens in with Velcro and can be removed for cleaning or replaced when worn. Dacron straps with D rings allow for adjustability.
Caution: This is a front leg brace only. It will not fit the hind leg.
Sizing
The brace is sized for a standard thoroughbred.
For a large-hoofed horse, the lower section of the liner may be cut away and removed.
Care and Cleaning
- Your brace is made from copolymer plastic with a dual density closed-cell liner. The liner will not absorb fluid. The liner fastens in with Velcro and can be removed for cleaning or replaced when worn.
- To clean, use mild soap and a soft cloth.
- Allow to air dry completely before storing.
- Store above freezing and below 85 degree F. Pronged very hot temperature can cause plastic to change shape. Temperature below freezing will not damage the plastic, but will necessitate warming before use because the plastic becomes brittle when cold.
Warning: These braces are to be used under the supervision of a veterinarian. Consult your veterinarian for wearing schedule, precautions, and limitations. The brace is only one element in overall veterinary care. There is no guarantee that injury will be prevented through the use of the product, or that the product will provide the desired results.
